The marine ecosystem covers 97% of our oceans and 70% of the world. In the marine ecosystem, there are coral reefs, tide pools, and rocky and sandy shores. Many organisms, both plants and animals have still not yet been discovered! Specific marine ecosystems such as coral reefs, estuaries, salt marshes, and mangrove forests are found throughout the world, but are characteristic of certain areas, depending on climate, geography, water temperature, and other physical factors. The marine ecosystem has invertebrates, which include mollusks, jellyfish, and sea anemone. The vertebrates include fish, birds and animals.
Biodiversity the variety of life in the world or in a particular habitat or ecosystem. If something happens ton an organism it will disrupt everything. For example, if there is no more plankton, then turtles won't get there food, which means sharks won't there food. That is not true in the marine ecosystem because it is the most diverse ecosystem in the world
Facts about the Marine Ecosystem
Consumers include Mussels and Lobster which are both primary consumers.
Producers include Seaweed and Kelp which are food for animals/fish.
Green turtles can migrate 1,400 miles to lay eggs.
Life began in the seas 3.1 billion to 3.4 billion years ago. Land dwellers appeared 400 million years ago, a relatively recent point in the geologic time line
